City Activations on 11 M & PRM:
Faced with a craze for the activations of VOTA (Villages On The Air), municipalities,... "In the broad sense"; And in order to be able to meet all expectations, requests, ... as well as to satisfy everyone, the "VOTA committee" is evolving.
After the creation of the VOTA, in 2024, we have created "TOTA" (Towns On The Air) for you!
Compared to the VOTA, "the TOTA" will therefore take care of "all municipalities with more than 2,000 inhabitants". The TOTAs will operate "on the same organization" as well as on the same bases, rules, ... of the VOTA (Except for points and references by municipality). 11M & PMR TOTA is a non-profit organizing committee that does not receive subsidies or membership fees. We do not manage any treasury, its members represented by all the activators, from all radio groups are totally volunteers. They work to promote, organize, manage, ... the references and activations of the TOTA (Villages On The Air) on the free bands through the competition: "TOTA Tour open to all".
We wish to promote TOTA hunters and mobilize the activators of all Dx radio groups without distinction through a competition called "TOTA Tour open to all" structured and respectful of certain ethical and logical rules.
Definition of a city:
For a long time, demographers (and INSEE) set a threshold that separates the urban from the rural and therefore the city from the village. Historically, any municipality with more than 2,000 inhabitants is considered a city (a TOTA).
The advantages of activating a TOTA:
The advantage of this activity is that at the same time and on the same site, in the same city, you can also combine, optimize and therefore activate/validate one and/or more references on the same activation! Suppose, for example:
that I am in Charente-Maritime, in department 17 in the village of Saint-Denis D'OLERON, on the Île D'Oléron,...
I could very well validate and activate at the same time the following 3 references below:
1) The city of Saint-Denis D'OLERON under the reference VFR17-323 as a TOTA
2) The Île D'Oléron being an IOTA under the reference EU-032 as an IOTA
3) The citadel of Château-d'Oléron on the city Le Château-d'Oléron being a citadel under the reference CF17-018 as a COTA, ....
In concrete terms, that is to say:
If I activate for example the village of Saint-Denis D'OLERON in TOTA this activation will also be valid for all other references (IOTA, COTA, COTA, FFF, ...) if all the criteria are met!
