Introduction :
After the existence of IOTA, IWI, COTA, LOTA, FFF, POTA, SOTA, etc. and etc. !
This is now the birth of the 11M & PMR VOTA (Villages On The Air), this is an organizing committee, founded in September 2024, non-profit that receives no subsidies or dues.
We do not manage any treasury, its members represented by all the activators, from all radio Dx groups are totally volunteers. Through our common passion, we want to discover and promote the rural heritage and its magnificent villages. The VOTA committee works to promote, organize, manage, ... the references and activations of VOTA (Villages On The Air) on the free bands (27Mhz and 446 Mhz) through the competition: "VOTA Tour which is open to all" each year.
We also want to promote VOTA hunters and mobilize the activators of all radio groups without distinction through a competition called VOTA Tour "open to all" structured and respectful of certain ethical and logical rules.
Definition of a Village:
For a long time, demographers (and INSEE) set a threshold that separates urban and rural areas and therefore the city from the village. Historically, any municipality with fewer than 2.000 inhabitants is considered and listed as a village.
The advantages of activating a VOTA :
The advantage of this activity is that at the same time and on the same site, in the same city, you can also combine, optimize and therefore activate/validate one and/or more references on the same activation!
Suppose, for example : that I am in Charente-Maritime, in department 17 in the village of Saint-Denis D'OLERON, therefore on the Île D'Oléron, ...:
I could very well validate and activate the following 3 references at the same time:
1) The village of Saint-Denis D'OLERON under the reference VF17-323 as a VOTA
2) The Île D'Oléron being an IOTA under the reference EU-032 as IOTA
3) The Chassiron lighthouse on The village of Saint-Denis D'OLERON being a lighthouse under the reference FRA 235 as LOTA, ....
In concrete terms, that is to say:
If I activate for example the village of Saint-Denis D'OLERON in VOTA this activation will also be valid for all other references (IOTA, LOTA, COTA, FFF, ...) and vice versa if all the criteria are met!
